Laid Scrim

Laid Scrim

Raw materials include fiberglass, polyester and other synthetic fibers. Laid scrim is manufactured by laying continuous filament yarn in biaxial or multiaxial directions and bonding by adhesive to hold structure and stability of the scrim. Due to open construction, laid scrim is the most effective and economic solution for flexible reinforcements. A layer of glass or polyester veil can be laminated to scrim. Laid scrim can increase strength, stabilize structure with high strength and light weight. It can be fully bonded with almost any material.

Description

Product Information

GALAXYFIBER Laid Scrim is a high-performance lightweight reinforcement material specifically developed for construction, waterproofing membranes, industrial composites, and transportation applications. It is laminated to the reverse side of materials or embedded during production to provide structural reinforcement, crack resistance, improved flexural strength, and dimensional stability.

Key Features for Mosaic Tile Applications

  • High tensile strength:Despite being light, it has high tensile and impact resistance, strong and durable.
  • Enhanced mechanical strength:Precisely woven, resists deformation under load, maintains dimensional stability.
  • Light, thin, wide range of application:Extremely low weight per unit area, thin and lightweight material, applicable across various fields.
  • Cost-effective:Low comprehensive cost over the entire lifecycle (transportation, installation, and maintenance).

FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between laid scrim and woven mesh?

A: Woven mesh features interlacing warp and weft yarns, while laid scrim is nonwoven-yarns are positioned by adhesive rather than weaving. This gives laid scrim superior dimensional stability at the same grammage, with thinner profile and better matrix penetration.

Q2: Is the product alkali-resistant?

A: Yes. Our laid scrim uses alkali-resistant glass fibers (C-glass) or polyester fibers with alkali-resistant coating, ensuring long-term performance stability in alkaline environments such as cement-based materials.

Q3: How to choose the right grammage?

A: 7.78–12.4 g/m²: For ultra-lightweight applications such as filter media support and lightweight packaging.

15.5–16 g/m²: For general-purpose reinforcement like wall crack resistance and waterproofing membrane carriers.

22–25 g/m²: For higher-strength applications such as FRP products and industrial composites.

33 g/m²: For high-load structural reinforcement and strengthening.

Contact our technical team for professional selection guidance.

Q4: Can specifications be customized?

A: Yes. We support customization of grammage, mesh size, width, roll length, color, and yarn specifications. Samples or technical parameters are welcome for custom production.

Q5: What role does laid scrim play in composites?

A: Laid scrim serves as structural reinforcement in composites: improving strength, distributing stress, preventing cracking, and enhancing flexural performance, while adding virtually no extra weight or thickness-achieving non-destructive reinforcement.

Q6: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

A: MOQ varies by specification. Regular specifications are available with relatively low MOQ. Please contact our sales team for details.

Q7: What is the lead time?

A: Regular specifications typically require 7–15 working days. Custom specifications depend on specific process requirements. Expedited processing is negotiable for bulk orders.
